+ How To Choose
How to Choose
Pillows Finding The Right Pillow:
How do you get your best rest? Our product recommendations are based on your most comfortable sleeping positions. Proper neck support is important, so take a look and make your best selection.
Sleep on your sides or back? Wool Bed pillows of either Regular Fill or Extra Thick Sleep on your stomach? Consider Wool Bed pillow- Light Fill Need neck support? If you like to having your neck fully supported with a bolster try our Neck Roll, or our Orthopedic Neck Pillow. (FYI: the Orthopedic was actually developed in partnership with a chiropractor.) Work or read a lot in bed? Consider either of these for propping up in bed: Wool Bed Pillow- Extra Thick or the Wool Wrapped Latex.
You know yourself best.
If you like a thicker pillow: Wool Bed Pillow- Extra Thick or the Wool Wrapped Latex. If you tend to favor a thinner pillow: Wool Bed Pillow-Light Fill or the adjustable Woolley “Down”. Our most popular pillows are medium fill: The versatile Woolley “Down” pillow which can be adjusted to any thickness or choose the Wool Bed Pillow- Regular Fill
Let’s talk about pillow compression: Pillows made with only wool layers may settle 15-30% within the first few months of regular use until they conform to the weight of your head. This is normal and happens to to the best of pillows. Please take this into consideration for your initial purchase and find the thickness that is best for you. If you are concerned about compression or are not sure which pillow thickness is best for you we suggest ordering the Woolley “Down” pillow, which will not compress and the thickness is always adjustable.
+ Benefits Of Wool
Natural wool is a timeless option for bedding. It’s actually been used for centuries. Our grandmothers knew the many benefits that wool provides, now you do too.
Why Is Wool Bedding So Great?
Wool is the most breathable filling material available, making it both cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It actually helps to regulate your body temperature.
Wool is a natural material; something grown, not made in a lab. Your body knows the difference. Wool surpasses synthetic fill in terms of quality and durability.
Dust Mite Resistant
Wool is a great choice if dust mites bug you or if you’re allergic. Dust mites can't live in wool due to microscopic bristles on the wool fibers.
Anti-Microbial & Anti-Bacterial
Amazingly, wool resists bacteria. It’s actually both antimicrobial and antibacterial.
Naturally Fire Resistant
Wool is fire resistant, providing a safe sleeping environment. Wool does not catch on fire and actually acts as a natural fire retardant.
A Renewable Resource, From Sheep
Unlike bedding that uses plucked down feathers, a sheep grows a coat of wool annually and is not harmed during shearing (it’s like getting a haircut).
Supports Small Farms And Farmers
Wool is a sustainable product and helps small farmers make a living.
Sustainable And Lasting
With proper care, your woollen bedding can last for decades.
It Stays In Place In Your Bedding
Wool batting, being one continuous piece, stays in place in our products and is hand-tufted to further secure it. This is unlike down bedding which shifts over time and creates bare spots in a comforter.
+ Pillow Care
Place inside a Zippered Pillow Cover or an additional pillowcase for protection. Wool Wrapped Latex pillows are not washable. Please keep out of direct sunlight for longest life & best use. The Woolley “Down” is a very easy pillow to care for. Keep the puffs inside the case to wash and use our special instructions provided. On rare occasions, if the puffs clump due to sweat or heat. To unclump, simply unzip and pull apart the puffs, and voila! A refreshed and fluffy pillow. A few words about compression. For pillows made with “Wool Layers” compression is normal. It happens to the best of pillows. The fresh carded wool has lots of air in it that becomes compressed with the weight and heat of your head. Consider also, your pillow has conformed to the weight of your head to support your neck and spine during sleep. Compression is not a bad thing, it’s a support thing. Expect your wool-layered pillow to compress up to 30% of its thickness within the first few months of regular use. Please take this into consideration for your initial purchase and find the thickness that is best for you. If you are concerned about compression or are not sure which pillow thickness is best for you we suggest ordering the Woolley “Down” pillow which will not compress and the thickness is always adjustable.
FOR ALL OUR PRODUCTS:
Unmake Your Bed
One of the best things you can do is unmake your bed in the morning for a few hours, allowing the moisture you gave off during the night to evaporate from the wool bedding.
Sunning Your Bedding
Placing your wool bedding in the sun a few times per year is an excellent way to refresh and cleanse your bedding using the benefits of the sun. Sunning will naturally deodorize, bleach, disinfect, and revitalize your bedding.
Protection Is Key
Protect your wool bedding by placing it inside an appropriate cotton cover that can be washed regularly and act as a barrier for your bedding during everyday use.
Place a comforter inside a duvet cover Put your pillow inside a zippered pillow cover and then into a pillow case For mattress toppers, use a moisture barrier and then a fitted sheet
Do I need to wash my bedding before I use it?
No, your wool bedding is ready to use. There’s no need to wash it unless it’s your preference. There are no chemicals located in our production facility, no animals on-site, no finishes used on the fabric and we maintain a Scent Free facility.
Can my bedding be washed & how?
Most of our wool bedding can be washed using our special washing instructions provided with your purchase. If you need a copy of the washing instructions please Contact Us and we’ll email it to you as soon as possible.
In case of emergency:
Gently spot clean the affected area. Set aside to later wash the entire product once you have received the washing instructions. You can also treat the problem area with live cultured enzymes which eliminate odors. (i.e. Biokleen makes a product called Bac Out.) These enzyme products can be found at your local health food store/ co-op. If you need another copy of the washing instructions, please contact us.
Can I take it to a dry cleaner?
We do not recommend dry cleaning unless it is taken to a certified "green" dry cleaner. Regular dry cleaners use chemicals to clean, defeating the purpose of having a natural bedding product.
Green America - Gold Certified Business since 2007
Green America is a national, non-profit founded in 1982. (They went by the name "Co-op America" until 2009). America's Green Business Certification ensures companies operate according to a “values-based” social enterprise according to principles of social justice and environmental sustainability. In addition, certified businesses must be environmentally responsible in the way they run their operations and facilities, and in how they source raw materials, manufacture products, and market them. The Gold certification is completed by the Green America Standards Committee through an independent review.
Holy Lamb Organics holds the Gold Certification
We have exceeded the operation standards, in addition to the standards - specific to the textile industry - for sourcing raw materials, manufacturing, and marketing our goods.
The IOAS is a non-profit certification organization dedicated to the integrity of eco label claims in the field of organic and sustainable agriculture, environmental management, social justice and fair trade.
They work internationally to assess the competence of organizations providing certification to "sustainability" standards, meaning producers can work in a fair environment and consumers can trust the products bearing these labels and the company's contribution to a more sustainable and fairer world.
IAOS's role is as an independent technical expert. It verifies correct application of the standard and the requirements for certification.
All COTTON used at Holy Lamb Organics is IOAS certified.
Eco Wool is produced to the highest standards on local American farms; some of these standards are beyond those specified for organic materials. Eco Wool is not certified organic. At this time very little organic wool is available on the market; almost no organic wool is grown in the United States.
We have access to organic wool from New Zealand that is pure and clean, though due to it being only one type of wool, it doesn’t offer the kind of resilience or bounce that our Premium Eco Wool™ does. Our Eco Wool is a blend of about 7 different types of wool varying from fine to coarse in order to create the most ideal wool fiber for use in bedding.
Our WOOL is Premium Eco-Wool™ .
