Instrument assisted manipulation
A small, hand-held instrument delivers a gentle impulse force to the spine and small joints with the goal of restoring motion. It is an alternative to the traditional form of joints manipulation.
Using a device that delivers rapid short duration pulses that penetrate deep into the soft tissue which helps with muscle soreness and stiffness, improves range of motion, promote circulation and accelerates recovery.
There are layers of connective tissue between the skin, muscles and bones called Fascia primarily made of collagen fibers which allow flexibility and smooth gliding motion of soft tissues like muscles, ligaments and skin without restrictions. Following a soft tissue injury these fibers break down and replaced by new collagen fibers laid down haphazardly referred to as scare tissue causing restrictions in motion or pain during motion.
Instrument assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) uses range of beveled edge tools to detect and treat scare tissue and fascial adhesions, promote proper healing and remodeling leading to faster recovery.
