+ Product Overview

A natural alternative to sheepskin without the chemical treatment of a tanned hide.

This is pure delight. Imagine a dreamy-soft lambswool fleece woven into a smooth organic cotton backing. Much better than a traditional sheepskin, which is cured with toxic chemicals. Unmatched in it’s softness, the wool fibers stand about 1” high.

It’s therapeutic for those who spend a lot of time in bed, or are prone to bed sores. This topper may also be helpful for those with fibromyalgia. It is incredibly healing, breathable and great for circulation.

Studies have shown that your heart rate is lowered when you sleep on a natural surface, resulting in a deeper sleep.

Toppers are great for not only creating a natural sleeping surface, but for softening a bed.

Every synthetic mattress is required by law to contain fire retardant chemicals. Even a cotton futon. One solution? Put a topper in between you and those chemicals!

We hand make all of our wool toppers using our Premium Eco-Wool™ sourced from our sustainable wool program using west coast U.S.A. wool. This wool is woven into a backing of organic cotton creating a fleece.

Massage Table Size- For the ultimate cozyness add this fleece to your massage table.

Travel Mat Size- Take your fleece on the road, perfect packable size for your travels.

Not sure? Order A Sample. We have samples of this wool moisture barrier fabric if you would like to see & feel before purchasing.

Materials

This Product Uses The Following Raw Materials:

Natural Fleece
Our natural fleece is made up of two fabrics that create an all natural and sustainable sheepskin without the use of harsh tanning chemicals. Instead of skin, the Premium Eco-Wool™ is woven into a backing of organic cotton knit yarns. This creates a stable fabric for the wool to stand vertically, supported by the woven cotton backing. This is constructed much like a shag rug if you will.

Made of Premium Eco-Wool™ Batting, sourced from USA, West Coast and produced in accordance with our Sustainable Wool Program
Made with 100% organic cotton yarn grown in India, woven in MA, USA.
Fleece is milled in MA, USA.

+ How To Choose

How to Choose

Mattress Toppers
How do I choose a mattress topper? It will depend on the goal you have in mind for using a topper.

When the goal of adding a topper to your bed is to create a natural sleeping surface, then all of our toppers will work for that purpose.
When the goal is to create a breathable surface for your body, our wool toppers are more breathable than latex toppers.
When the goal is to create more cushion (or softness to your bed) then you'll need to determine just how much cushion you would like.
For maximum cushion try our latex toppers, next try the Quilted Wool Ultimate,
For slightly less cushion try the Quilted Wool Deep Sleep or the Happy Lamb Fleece.
People who are in bed for a long periods of time or who have fibromyalgia greatly benefit from the Happy Lamb Fleece’s ability to relieve pressure points.

What is the thickness of the Mattress Toppers, Deep Sleep and Ultimate?
It’s very challenging to talk about a soft and squishy product in terms of inches. It’s much more accurate to compare products using their total wool weight (see Product Specs tab to compare product weights).
However, it can be helpful to know approximate heights for products.
Deep Sleep topper is approximately 1.5-2” thick
Ultimate topper has a loft of about 2.5-3” thick

Still Unsure?
A sample kit may help. Try our Mattress Topper Sample Kit available for $15.00, which may help you make a decision on which topper is right for you. If you end up ordering a topper, the cost of the sample is subtracted from your order resulting in a free sample. We also have wool comforter samples as well.

Another option is to find a store in your area that carries the Holy Lamb Organics line of Wool Mattress Toppers.

+ Mattress Topper Care

Mattress Topper Care

Toppers are too big to fit in most machines and are also not constructed with specific techniques that enable washing. Spot clean this item instead.

To protect your topper we recommend our Moisture Barriers or Puddle Pads. This thick felted layer of barrier wool lays flat and is secured in place by the fitted sheet which goes over the top. An excellent natural way to protect your investment from the inevitable spills that happen in life!

We recommend that you do not wash the Happy Lamb Fleece for the initial 6 months or so until all of the vertical wool layers have a chance to become uniform and slightly felt from the weight and heat of your body. After that uniformity is reached (you will know) and it will be safe to wash using our specific washing instructions provided with your product.

FOR ALL OUR PRODUCTS:
Unmake Your Bed

One of the best things you can do is unmake your bed in the morning for a few hours, allowing the moisture you gave off during the night to evaporate from the wool bedding.
Sunning Your Bedding

Placing your wool bedding in the sun a few times per year is an excellent way to refresh and cleanse your bedding using the benefits of the sun. Sunning will naturally deodorize, bleach, disinfect, and revitalize your bedding.
Protection Is Key

Protect your wool bedding by placing it inside an appropriate cotton cover that can be washed regularly and act as a barrier for your bedding during everyday use.

Place a comforter inside a duvet cover
Put your pillow inside a zippered pillow cover and then into a pillow case
For mattress toppers, use a moisture barrier and then a fitted sheet

Do I need to wash my bedding before I use it?

No, your wool bedding is ready to use. There’s no need to wash it unless it’s your preference. There are no chemicals located in our production facility, no animals on-site, no finishes used on the fabric and we maintain a Scent Free facility.
Can my bedding be washed & how?

Most of our wool bedding can be washed using our special washing instructions provided with your purchase. If you need a copy of the washing instructions please Contact Us and we’ll email it to you as soon as possible.
In case of emergency:

Gently spot clean the affected area.
Set aside to later wash the entire product once you have received the washing instructions.
You can also treat the problem area with live cultured enzymes which eliminate odors. (i.e. Biokleen makes a product called Bac Out.) These enzyme products can be found at your local health food store/ co-op.
If you need another copy of the washing instructions, please contact us.

Can I take it to a dry cleaner?

We do not recommend dry cleaning unless it is taken to a certified "green" dry cleaner. Regular dry cleaners use chemicals to clean, defeating the purpose of having a natural bedding product.

+ Benefits Of Wools

Natural wool is a timeless option for bedding. It’s actually been used for centuries. Our grandmothers knew the many benefits that wool provides, now you do too.
Why Is Wool Bedding So Great?

Breathability
Wool is the most breathable filling material available, making it both cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It actually helps to regulate your body temperature.

Natural
Wool is a natural material; something grown, not made in a lab. Your body knows the difference. Wool surpasses synthetic fill in terms of quality and durability.

Dust Mite Resistant
Wool is a great choice if dust mites bug you or if you’re allergic. Dust mites can't live in wool due to microscopic bristles on the wool fibers.

Anti-Microbial & Anti-Bacterial
Amazingly, wool resists bacteria. It’s actually both antimicrobial and antibacterial.

Naturally Fire Resistant
Wool is fire resistant, providing a safe sleeping environment. Wool does not catch on fire and actually acts as a natural fire retardant.

A Renewable Resource, From Sheep
Unlike bedding that uses plucked down feathers, a sheep grows a coat of wool annually and is not harmed during shearing (it’s like getting a haircut).

Supports Small Farms And Farmers
Wool is a sustainable product and helps small farmers make a living.

Sustainable And Lasting
With proper care, your woollen bedding can last for decades.

It Stays In Place In Your Bedding
Wool batting, being one continuous piece, stays in place in our products and is hand-tufted to further secure it. This is unlike down bedding which shifts over time and creates bare spots in a comforter.

+ Certifications

Green America - Gold Certified Business since 2007

Green America is a national, non-profit founded in 1982. (They went by the name "Co-op America" until 2009). America's Green Business Certification ensures companies operate according to a “values-based” social enterprise according to principles of social justice and environmental sustainability. In addition, certified businesses must be environmentally responsible in the way they run their operations and facilities, and in how they source raw materials, manufacture products, and market them. The Gold certification is completed by the Green America Standards Committee through an independent review.

Holy Lamb Organics holds the Gold Certification

We have exceeded the operation standards, in addition to the standards - specific to the textile industry - for sourcing raw materials, manufacturing, and marketing our goods.

IAOS's role is as an independent technical expert. It verifies correct application of the standard and the requirements for certification.

All COTTON used at Holy Lamb Organics is IOAS certified.

Eco-Wool™

Eco Wool is produced to the highest standards on local American farms; some of these standards are beyond those specified for organic materials. Eco Wool is not certified organic. At this time very little organic wool is available on the market; almost no organic wool is grown in the United States.

We have access to organic wool from New Zealand that is pure and clean, though due to it being only one type of wool, it doesn’t offer the kind of resilience or bounce that our Premium Eco Wool™ does. Our Eco Wool is a blend of about 7 different types of wool varying from fine to coarse in order to create the most ideal wool fiber for use in bedding.

Our WOOL is Premium Eco-Wool™ .

Oregon Tilth Certified
