+ Product Overview
Sweet Dreams for Baby
The beauty of using a wool comforter for baby is in the temperature regulating properties of this natural fiber. This lightweight blanket gives Baby just the right amount of cool in the summer and warmth in winter with natural wool.
Unlike many comforters, ours are hand-tufted and stitched around the perimeter so the wool batting stays in place while in use or in a gentle wash. This is a customer favorite that will last.
This comforter is soft to touch and snuggly on its own, or it may be slipped easily into a crib duvet cover for additional protection.
This Product Uses The Following Raw Materials:
Made with Premium Eco-Wool™ our famous blend sourced directly from about 20 family farms in Oregon & California, USA. It is the nicest wool we have ever seen- incredibly clean, dust free and virtually vegetable matter free.
Growers participate in our Sustainable Wool Program, managing their flocks in a humane, chemical-free, and environmentally thoughtful manner. The vast majority of our products are built with this wool.
This is our signature wool blend- it is the cleanest highest-quality wool available. Grown and produced with care, this wool batting is chemical-free from sheep to finish.

+ Your Baby and Wool
Of course you want the softest, safest, cleanest, most natural materials right next to your baby. That's what we want for our children too.
What if my baby is allergic?
Many times babies and adults are actually allergic to the chemicals and fire retardants in bedding, rather than the materials themselves.
We do not use any chemicals in the processing of our wool. There is no carbonization (wool dipped in a chemical bath) whatsoever.
Our sheared wool is washed with a biodegradable soap and rinsed several times in scalding hot water before going to the mill to be carded. It's actually the cleanest wool available on the market. Seriously - and we've seen it all.
Isn't wool scratchy?
Some wools are, but not all of them. Two factors contribute to itchy wool:
- the grade of wool (coarse to fine), and
- Carbonization chemical processing.
So to address both factors:
- Our wool is a snuggle soft medium-fine grade wool. It's inherent loft makes it an ideal wool blend for bedding.
- Our wool is never carbonized. EVER.
Order a Sensitivity Kit.
The best way to know is to try it yourself. Our kits come with all the materials we use wrapped in plastic, labeled and with instructions for how to test your self for an allergic reaction.
And do take a look at our Customer Reviews from happy parents talking about the softness of our products.
+ Baby Products Care
SPECIFICALLY BABY CARE:
Bumpers: All bumper styles must be washed in a top loader only washing machine (not a front loader), using our special washing instructions provided upon purchase. To protect all mattresses & toppers we recommend using a Puddle Pad. This thick felted layer of barrier wool lays flat on top and is secured in place by the fitted sheet. Using puddle pads is an excellent natural way to protect against everyday accidents and spills. We recommend that you do not wash the Happy Lamb Fleece for the first 6 months or so until all of the vertical wool layers have a chance to become uniform and slightly felt from the weight and heat of your child’s body. After that uniformity is reached (you will know) it will be safe to wash using our specific washing instructions provided with your product.
FOR ALL OUR PRODUCTS:
Unmake Your Bed
One of the best things you can do is unmake your bed in the morning for a few hours, allowing the moisture you gave off during the night to evaporate from the wool bedding.
Sunning Your Bedding
Placing your wool bedding in the sun a few times per year is an excellent way to refresh and cleanse your bedding using the benefits of the sun. Sunning will naturally deodorize, bleach, disinfect, and revitalize your bedding.
Protection Is Key: Protect your wool bedding by placing it inside an appropriate cotton cover that can be washed regularly and act as a barrier for your bedding during everyday use.
Place a comforter inside a duvet cover Put your pillow inside a zippered pillow cover and then into a pillow case For mattress toppers, use a moisture barrier and then a fitted sheet
Do I need to wash my bedding before I use it?
No, your wool bedding is ready to use. There’s no need to wash it unless it’s your preference. There are no chemicals located in our production facility, no animals on-site, no finishes used on the fabric and we maintain a Scent Free facility.
Can my bedding be washed & how?
Most of our wool bedding can be washed using our special washing instructions provided with your purchase. If you need a copy of the washing instructions please Contact Us and we’ll email it to you as soon as possible.
In case of emergency:
Gently spot clean the affected area. Set aside to later wash the entire product once you have received the washing instructions. You can also treat the problem area with live cultured enzymes which eliminate odors. (i.e. Biokleen makes a product called Bac Out.) These enzyme products can be found at your local health food store/ co-op. If you need another copy of the washing instructions, please contact us.
Can I take it to a dry cleaner?
We do not recommend dry cleaning unless it is taken to a certified "green" dry cleaner. Regular dry cleaners use chemicals to clean, defeating the purpose of having a natural bedding product.
Green America - Gold Certified Business since 2007
Green America is a national, non-profit founded in 1982. (They went by the name "Co-op America" until 2009). America's Green Business Certification ensures companies operate according to a “values-based” social enterprise according to principles of social justice and environmental sustainability. In addition, certified businesses must be environmentally responsible in the way they run their operations and facilities, and in how they source raw materials, manufacture products, and market them. The Gold certification is completed by the Green America Standards Committee through an independent review.
Holy Lamb Organics holds the Gold Certification
We have exceeded the operation standards, in addition to the standards - specific to the textile industry - for sourcing raw materials, manufacturing, and marketing our goods.
The IOAS is a non-profit certification organization dedicated to the integrity of eco label claims in the field of organic and sustainable agriculture, environmental management, social justice and fair trade.
They work internationally to assess the competence of organizations providing certification to "sustainability" standards, meaning producers can work in a fair environment and consumers can trust the products bearing these labels and the company's contribution to a more sustainable and fairer world.
IAOS's role is as an independent technical expert. It verifies correct application of the standard and the requirements for certification.
All COTTON used at Holy Lamb Organics is IOAS certified.
Eco Wool is produced to the highest standards on local American farms; some of these standards are beyond those specified for organic materials. Eco Wool is not certified organic. At this time very little organic wool is available on the market; almost no organic wool is grown in the United States.
We have access to organic wool from New Zealand that is pure and clean, though due to it being only one type of wool, it doesn’t offer the kind of resilience or bounce that our Premium Eco Wool™ does. Our Eco Wool is a blend of about 7 different types of wool varying from fine to coarse in order to create the most ideal wool fiber for use in bedding.
Our WOOL is Premium Eco-Wool™ .
